This is a render I did of my Pawn from an angle so you can see what the base looks like as well (all my chess models have this base)

I then linked my exported texture maps to my model in Maya using Hypershade
I also textured darker versions of all my models to create the 'black' pieces
I then exported my hi-poly pawn into Substance Painter to texture. As the UV maps were the same as the low-poly, this way was simpler than trying to bake the low-poly model.
After receiving feedback I 'bevelled' the sharper edges instead of using the crease tool as it would turn out better. I then duplicated my model to create a high-poly version to use when texturing (I then repeated this process with my other models)
